About This Scholarship
This scholarship is made possible due to the generosity of the Winkley family. In January of 2025, they lost their beloved son and brother Reed to suicide. Reed was a proud KU alum and member of the Delta Tau Delta Fraternity. He was a kind young man who was always ready, willing, and able to lend a helping hand to anyone who needed it. In the wake of this heartbreak, they have partnered with the St. Lawrence Catholic Center and Lux Counseling to provide access to life-saving mental health therapy. Often, financial barriers can stand between a student in crisis and professional mental health therapy that they desperately need. For this reason, the Winkley’s have created a legacy in honor of Reed’s memory to carry his giving spirit forward and ensure that other young people do not have to fight their battles alone.
